Signing of MoU between HPE & APPL Foundation on the 9th of Aug 2022, wherein Hewlett Packard Enterprise India Pvt Ltd.  ( HPE) under their CSR initiative have agreed to help out 10 Tea Estate Hospitals under Amalgamated Plantations Pvt Ltd (APPL) , with the facilities of e Health Centres , where they would be providing the computer hardware for the centres along with Laboratory & other Hospital equipment.

APPL Foundation at ‘Workplace Women's Health & Well-being Meeting’ organized by United Nations Foundation and Tata Trusts

Dr. Purnananda Khaund and Mr. Jatin Bavishi represented APPL Foundation at the recently concluded UN Foundation-Tata Trusts Conference on Workplace Women's Health & Empowerment in Agriculture Sector. The Conference was attended by global brands, Tea Producers, Industry Experts as well as NGO’s/Social Enterprises amongst others. Dr. Khaund gave a glimpse into the activities of APPL Foundation in the healthcare sector, particularly in the field of Fungal Infections, Nutrition, Technological Innovations and Family Planning.

Partnering with HP to eradicate TB

APPL Foundation and Hewlett Packard (India) Software Operation Private Limited (HPISO) have signed an MoU to upgrade the eHealthcare units at Damdim (West Bengal), Powai, Namroop, Kellyden, Hathikuli and facilitate TB screening. The programme visions to screen 15000 probable patients and link them towards curative procedures.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Dhiraj Kakati, Managing Trustee, APPL Foundation and Mr. Sushil Batla, Head CSR Hewlett Packard Enterprise India.

6th Batch of Adult Learning Programme complete at Nahorani

The 6th Batch of Adult Learning Programme (Project Swabhimaan) is complete, and a small presentation ceremony was held to distribute certificates to the qualified students. The learners acknowledged how their lives have improved through these special classes.

A total of 173 students have been trained in basic reading, writing and arithmetic from November 2018 till present, and is gaining greater enthusiasm with every passing batch.

Arctic Expedition

Mr. Rituraj and team was extremely lucky with sightings of Arctic wildlife.  Some of the memorable encounters include the Bowhead whale, Beluga whale, Fin whale, Polar Bear, Walrus, Svalbard Reindeer, Atlantic Puffin, Great Skua, Arctic Skua and Ivory Gull.  The CFA team learnt about the changing dynamics of predator and prey interactions in the warming arctic ecosystems from wildlife biologists with decades on research in the polar regions.

TRAINING WOMEN TO SPREAD MENSTRUAL HYGIENE

Menstrual Hygiene for girls and women in the community at large is the campaign that APPL Foundation has been spearheading since Women’s Day. Adding a new chapter to the campaign a programme to ensure menstrual hygiene has been initiated at Dooars. Educating women about reproductive health, menstrual hygiene and encouraging them to adopt best practices is the objective of the programme.
