Assam Investment Fund Donates Girls’ hostel to Amalgamated Plantations Private Industrial Training Institute (APPITI), Rowta

TANGLA, July 23: In a bid to provide accommodation facilities to girl students, a 100-bedded girls’ hostel of the Amalgamated Plantations Private Industrial Training Institute (APPITI) was inaugurated at Rowta in Udalguri recently. The hostel has been donated by the Assam Investment Fund and constructed within a record time of eight months since the laying of its foundation stone in November, 2017. A digital classroom under CSR programme for school and college students of the neighborhood was also inaugurated by Mazbat MLA Charan Boro.

The Amalgamated Plantations Private Industrial Training Institute (APPITI) inaugurated a 100-seater Girls Hostel today at Rowta, in Udalguri District of Assam. The hostel has been donated by the Assam Investment Fund and constructed within a record time of 8-months since the laying of its foundation stone in November 2017. A Digital Learning Classroom under CSR programme for school and college going students of the neighborhood was also inaugurated by ShriCharanBoro (MLA, Majbat).

CHILD FOCUSED EDUCATION PROGRAMME AT NAHORTOLI

Good weaves International and Rainforest Alliance have joined hands to start a child focused education project at Nahortoli Tea Estate of APPL in Upper Assam. The objective of the initiative is to improve learning at schools engaging children and teachers, awareness in the community about the value of education and reduce the risk of children engaging in work.

VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTATION DRIVE FOR HEALTHY MOTHER AND CHILD

Vitamin deficiencies can wreak havoc in the lives of infants and their mothers. Often due to lack of vitamins in dietary supplements pregnant and lactating women and infants suffer from a number of ailments. This can be prevented by vitamin supplementation. Such a drive was recently initiated at tea gardens of APPL. APPL Foundation in partnership with Doctors For You to launch a Vitamin Supplementation programme across APPL Tea Estates in Assam and Dooars reaching children below 5 years age, pregnant and lactating women.

A training programme on Bush Pepper was successfully conducted on 26th June 2018. The main objective of this training was Women Empowerment & Skill Development ·

Tata Affirmative Action team, comprising Ms. Pinakshi Khandelwal (Tata Sons) and Mr. Pithumai Nazarene (TCS) visited APPITI on 18th April 2018. The team basically came to assess the impact of our outreach towards the marginalized communities of Assam. The assessors were highly impressed with the quality of impact, and appreciated our work.
