The cleft surgery camp at RHRC started on January 28th and ended on February 2nd, 2015. The team comprised of 38 members with 23 representatives from Operation Smile, 10 from Referral Hospital & Research Centre (RHRC), Chubwa and 5 student volunteers. Through the course of the camp, 135 patients were screened and 56 surgeries undertaken.
Around 3.00 P.M. on 28.10.2014 at Khoirabari Division, in section No. 2, a herd of approx. 100 wild elephants were spotted. Locals from the nearby Ghagra Bazar had gathered to watch them. The onlookers were asked to leave the site when it was suddenly reported that one elephant had just fallen into a drain. In the meantime Mr. U. Basnet, Asst.
The Teok Tea Estate management team and Angabari women workers presented the translation of the contents of the message by, UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka to mark the International Day of the Girl Child emphasizing responsibilities of parents, guardians, society, girls themselves, boys-brothers & fathers etc to 23 participants.
