Hathikuli Tea Estate is situated between the World Heritage Site of Kaziranga National Park and the Karbi Anglong Hills. The fundamental objective of the conversion to organic was to maintain the ecological balance of a biodiversity hot spot and prevent any further environmental degradation in the areas adjoining the World Heritage Site. The organic conversion of Hathikuli TE started in 2007 and the process was completed by 2011. Conversion to Organic has precipitated a paradigm shift in the approach towards tea production, where natural solutions / remedies through human intervention are used across the cultivation value chain
Restoration of Ecological Balance has been achieved by reducing artificial interventions through resurgence of:
- Indigenous plant and flower species providing life support sustenance for predators
- Significant improvements in water / air quality are being recorded - directly benefitting the people and planet.
