Girls’ Hostel Inaugurated at APPITI, Rowta (Udalguri)

The Amalgamated Plantations Private Industrial Training Institute (APPITI) inaugurated a 100-seater Girls Hostel today at Rowta, in Udalguri District of Assam. The hostel has been donated by the Assam Investment Fund and constructed within a record time of 8-months since the laying of its foundation stone in November 2017. A Digital Learning Classroom under CSR programme for school and college going students of the neighborhood was also inaugurated by ShriCharanBoro (MLA, Majbat). 

The inauguration of the 100 seated Girls Hostel was done by Mr. Ranjit Barthakur, Chairman of AmalgamatedPlantations Pvt. Ltd. The APPITI,Rowta was established in 1997 and is currently operated jointly by APPL Foundation and Gram Tarang Employability Training Services (GTETS). It offers short term placement linked training programs in high demand sectors like Sewing Machine Operator, Industrial Fitter, Driving, etc. All these training are provided free of cost to the trainee from the BPL category,with programs funded by government schemes DDU-GKY,ASDM,ASRLM,etc. and CSR projects of NRL,OIL,Sadbhavna,etc.

Thiscentre has trained about 2000 candidates since 2015 in various trades. The girls hostel will further additional residential facility specifically for women candidates to cater to the growing demand and interest evinced by women candidates.

The Managing Trustee of APPL Foundation, Mr. Dhiraj Kakati extends his gratitude to the Chairman and Board Members of the Assam Investment Fund for this donation which would go a long way for the overall upliftment of marginalized women in the State.Mr.Kakati also disclosed that this Centre was upgraded in 2012 with the support of Tata Motors, L&T,Schneider, etc. at the intervention of Mr.Barthakur,who is also the Chairman of the APPL Foundation. It will soon use sSolar power under the RESCO scheme introduced by the Government of India.

APPITI is now in the process of setting up an Agricultural Training Hub with the support of Mahindra&Mahindra.ShriKakati thankedthe Contractor M/S.
