Education for Everyone

There is something to be said about education, no matter what our circumstances are. No part of life today is easy without education. Even to work a manual labour job, like on the tea estate – we need to be able to read the numbers displayed.

Aroti Lakra of Hattigor Tea Estate is studying today, every evening after a long day’s work, because she wants to have the power to improve her life, for her basic rights. She wants to be able to read her salary slip and understand what she is entitled to. To be able to write her own name without having to copy it! She returns to home from work, cooks food, feed the children and puts them to bed and then comes to class because she wants to set the right example for her children and make sure they understand the importance of education.
